Mentors and volunteers are needed

Mentors are needed for the 1st Cohort

What are the expectations of a Peer Mentor – Mentee relationship?

  • Mentors and Mentees are required to meet via phone, email or face-to-face on a weekly basis.
  • Mentees are expected to take the initiative in setting meetings and follow-up sessions.
  • Peer Mentors – Mentees are required to follow the DFSWW Standards of Excellence (stated in the Peer Mentorship guide).
  • Peer Mentors are required to have the skills and time to complete reporting forms, during and after the completion of assigned Mentees program. As well as updated the Program Coordinator on goal setting and progress throughout the duration of the cohort.
  • Peer Mentors are required to be ethical, honest, dependable, friendly, sisterly, encouraging, and supportive. But in no way are they required to be counselors – proper boundaries should be set at the beginning of this relationship to ensure misunderstandings are avoided.
  • It should be required that all GPN students participate in the PMM relationship unless otherwise recommended by the Program/GPN Coordinator.
